Below is a chart of common problems and remedies for drag conveyors. When you encounter issues, it’s important to identify the root cause and not treat the system. There’s no need to increase the size of your shaft, for instance, when the shaft diameter isn’t the problem; rather, it’s the torque on the shaft that’s the issue.
Of course (and we harp on this all the time), no amount of maintenance will make a cruddy conveyor perform like something made for top performance: an Edsel will never run like a Porsche. For better performance, you’ll need to upgrade your equipment to SMART Conveyors™.
As a note, these aren’t problems our clients typically face. They’re problems operation personnel experience with conveyors generally. Also, make sure you consult the manufacturer before altering the conveyor. By making alterations without advice, you may inadvertently cause another issue.
